Community Building for Food Security

Community Building for Food Security is a participatory approach to facilitate community asset mapping, capacity building and action planning for food security and food sovereignty in Alberta communities. The approach includes an initial 2-day workshop where communities learn about food security and food sovereignty, reflect on their uniqueness and address food challenges in ways that are meaningful to them. Follow-up workshops, seed funding, and networking opportunities nurture on-going community success. For more information and to view the workshop material visit the GFSA web site at http://www.foodsecurityalberta.ca. To learn more about how the success communties have had through this approach, check out the “Community Stories” section of this blog.
